Following his 2018 EP “No Time for Heavy Hearts”, Argentine folk singer-songwriter Mauro Meloni will release his new EP “Conceal” on December 17, 2020. The new songs took shape amongst the chaos while also working as a lawyer, and aim to function as a space of calm in the middle of the city.
Mauro Meloni left his hometown–Yerba Buena, Tucumán (Argentina)- at age 18 to study law in Buenos Aires. Without knowing anyone in the city, he soon began to perform his music in bars and in the weekly event “Open Folk”, where he found a community of artists that helped him define his path as a singer-songwriter.
In 2018 he released his first solo material, “No Time for Heavy Hearts”. Although the songs on his first album reveal a clear influence of North American folk artists such as Fleet Foxes or Jackson Browne, it is easy to see that the roots of the singer from Tucumán are also linked to guitarreadas (gatherings with friends or family where traditional tunes are sung), an essential part of the musical landscape of northwestern Argentina.
Unlike his previous work, the new set of songs in “Conceal” move one step closer to indie pop/rock texture, using a layer of electric sounds to meditate on the theme of change.
